H. R. 21--"Urging Princess House, a subsidiary of
Palmolive-Colgate, to come to the bargaining table and negotiate
a new contract in good faith with the employees of the Louie
Glass Company of Weston, West Virginia."
Whereas, The three hundred fifty employees of the Louie
Glass Company of Weston, West Virginia, have been on strike since
February 14, 1993, and have been thus far unable to secure a fair
and equitable contract; and
Whereas, Princess House has refused to come to the
bargaining table to negotiate a contract with the employees of
the Louie Glass Company; and
Whereas, Princess House, by their refusal to come to the
bargaining table and bargain in good faith, has caused financial
and emotional turmoil throughout the Weston, West Virginia, area;
and
Whereas, Due to the necessity of a strike, over three
hundred fifty employees of the Louie Glass Company are currently
off work and have been since February 14, 1993; and
Whereas, The hardship created by the loss of work does
severe emotional and financial damage to the employees of Louie
Glass Company and their family members, as well as to the
business community, and, indeed, community welfare as a whole
across the State of West Virginia; and
Whereas, The employees of the Louie Glass Company are proud
West Virginians who have distinguished themselves with hard work
and excellent productivity and only ask for fair wages and fair
working conditions; therefore, be it
Resolved by the House of Delegates:
That the West Virginia House of Delegates supports theefforts of the employees of the Louie Glass Company of Weston,
West Virginia, and strongly urges Princess House, a subsidiary of
Colgate-Palmolive, to come to the bargaining table and negotiate
in good faith with the employees of the Louie Glass Company; and,

That a copy of this resolution be
forwarded to the president of Princess House and the CEO of
Colgate-Palmolive and the West Virginia State Senate.
